City snapped up experienced defender Andrew Davies on a permanent one year deal in the summer of 2012. The popular centre half joined on a free transfer after leaving Premier League side Stoke City. Davies had initially moved to City on loan during the 2011/2012 season. His original deal saw him join on a three month loan deal in September 2011 but it was eventually extended until the end of last season. The 26 year old gathered a vast wealth of experience at both Premier League and Championship level before his move to City, playing for the likes of Middlesbrough, Derby County and Southampton before signing for Stoke in August 2008. During his time at the Riverside Stadium, Davies also featured in Boro's run to the UEFA Cup Final (now Europa League) in 2006. The defender, who has been capped at England Under 21 level, most recently enjoyed a loan spell with Championship side Crystal Palace at the start of last season. With his old deal due to expire, Davies signed a new two-year contract with City in June 2013.
