Veteran forward Peter Thorne joined Bradford City on 1 July 2007 signing a one-year contract with the club.

He was released at the end of the previous season by Norwich City.

Thorne's career chances were limited at Carrow Road. He missed the start of the 2005-06 season through injury and then failed to establish himself as a first team regular, scoring just one goal during the season.

In the summer of 2006, Norwich manager Nigel Worthington indicated that Thorne would be allowed to leave the club if a suitable offer was received. He remained on Norwich's books for the 2006-07 season, however. His future at Norwich was placed in further doubt when the club signed Chris Brown from Sunderland in January 2007.

Thorne £1.8m move to Cardiff City from Stoke was the Bluebirds record signing at the time.

He helped Cardiff City gain promotion to the Coca-Cola Football League Championship in the 2002-2003 season, via the Play-Offs. He became a fans' favourite at Ninian Park and stayed for two further seasons, before joining Norwich City on a free transfer in the summer of 2005. Financial difficulties at Cardiff were a major factor in their decision to release Thorne.

In May 2007 Thorne was among a number of players to be released by Norwich City.

His other previous clubs include Blackburn Rovers (as a trainee), Wigan Athletic (on loan) and Swindon Town.

A hip injury delayed Thorne's Bradford debut until the 7th September 2007 against Lincoln City. Thorne's first goal for the club and his first for over a year came two months later against Chester City in a F.A Cup tie.

Thorne's form continued to improve as his fitness levels and match practice increased. By the end of his term with the club, Thorne had become City's top scorer that campaign despite not scoring until 3 months into the season.

City and Thorne agreed to extend his contract for a further season into the 2008-09 season. Thorne started that campaign impressively, scoring eight goals in the club's first six league fixtures.

Persistent neck and shoulder problems unfortunately hampered Thorne for the remainder of the season as the hitman went four months without scoring a goal.

Despite his injury problems, Thorne managed to get back to scoring ways towards the end of the season and finished as the club's top scorer for the second season in a row.

The injuries that had troubled Thorne so greatly during the 2008/09 season made him consider retirement from the game. In July 2009, however Thorne shook off those thoughts of retirement and signed a further one year deal with the club.

Unfortunately injuries continued to plague Thorne during the following season, severly restricting his appearances in the process.

Thorne has yet to feature for the Bradford first team since early September due to hamstring injuries.
