A central defender, Mark signed professional forms with Bradford City in March 1998 and was soon called upon to make his League debut in the 3-2 victory over Norwich City at Carrow Road in April when he came on as substitute and had to play out of position at full back.
He made his full debut in the 2-0 defeat by Bury at Gigg Lane.
In the 1999/2000 season, 23 year old Mark spent three months on loan at York City to gain first team experience and when he returned to the Bradford & Bingley Stadium he was duly offered a new two year deal with the Bantams.
He impressed the Minstermen to the extent that he returned to Bootham Crescent for most of the 2000/2001 season on a long-term loan.
Mark was given his big break by new Manager Nicky Law and kept his place in the First Team which culminated with a new three year contract.
He made his full debut in the 2-0 defeat by Bury at Gigg Lane.
