David Syers was awarded a full time contract at Bradford City in August 2010.
Syers put pen to paper on a 10 month contract which will keep him at Valley Parade until the end of the season.
The football club also have the option of extending his contract for a further season should they wish.
The deal represented his first professional contract in football after spells in non-league with Ossett Albion, Farsley Celtic and Harrogate Town.
The 22 year old has been on trial with the football club since the middle of July and was part of the travelling party that took part in City's recent tour of Essex and Middlesex.
His involvement in the tour was cut short due to an ankle injury but Peter Taylor stood loyal to the former Farsley midfielder and kept him at the club until he recovered.
Still on trial, Syers made his return from injury during the 4-0 pre-season victory over Bradford (Park Avenue) at the start of the month.
He signed non-contract forms just a day before City's Carling Cup 1st round match with Nottingham Forest to enable him to play in the tie.
After coming on as a half time substitute, Syers made an almost instant impact against the Championship promotion hopefuls.
He scored City's all-important equaliser after barely being on the field ten minutes and set the wheels in motion for the Bantams to produce one of the shocks of the round.
