In August 2009, Scott Neilson completed his move to the Bantams from Zamaretto League Premier Division side Cambridge City for an undisclosed fee.

The jet heeled winger penned a three year deal with the club, with an option for a further year.

The Hertfordshire local had been on trial with the club in the weeks leading up to his capture.

Neilson had already endeared himself to the City faithful before his official signing when he put in a dazzling display against Middlesbrough Reserves while on trial.

He scored two goals and created another to help City Reserves beat their counterparts from the North East 3 - 2 in the totesportcasino.com League Cup.

His first senior goal coming in the 2-1 Johnstone's Paint Trophy victory at Rochdale on 1 September

Before his arrival at the Coral Windows Stadium, Neilson had enjoyed trials with Norwich City and Derby County and was being followed by several other league clubs.

Neilson was a key figure at Cambridge City, scoring 13 goals and helping them to a fourth place finish in the 2008/09 season.

He had joined Cambridge from Ryman League side Ware back in March 2008.

During his time at Ware Town, Neilson scored 23 goals from 40 starts in the 2007/08 season.

Football features heavily in Scott's family as he is the grandson of Tottenham Hotspur and Wales legend Cliff Jones who also played for Cambridge City.

Jones was an integral member of the famous Bill Nicholson Spurs side of the 1960's that won the First Division title in 1961 as well as the European Cup Winners Cup in 1963 and three F.A Cups between 1961 and 1967.

He also received 59 caps for Wales.

Neilson was handed his first appearance at Valley Parade shortly after his arrival during the Bantams win over Torquay.

Handed his first start three days later in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy tie at Rochdale, Neilson marked the occasion with his first Bantams goal and his side's equaliser as McCall's men went on progress to the next round.
