Luke O'Brien progressed through City's youth ranks to make his first team debut as a substitute as Doncaster Rovers in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy on 4th September 2007.
The Halifax born youngster was handed his first senior team start against Tranmere Rovers in the F.A Cup 2nd round on 1 December 2007.
O'Brien continued to progress through the club's reserve team and earned himself new contract in April 2008.
A sending off for Paul Heckingbottom gave O'Brien his first action of the 2008/2009 season, as a second half substitution to cover the veteran defender's absence.
The young left back kept his place in the side for the majority of the season from then onwards, scoring his first senior goal during the 2 - 0 victory over Rotherham United at the Don Valley Stadium.
The PFA Fans League 2 Player of the Month award for December was just reward for O'Brien's continued mature and consistent performances in the Bantams line up.
O'Brien completed a fine first full season in the club's senior set up by winning the supporters & players Player of the Year awards among others.
The following season, 2009/10, O'Brien was allowed to enjoy furores further forward as the youngster was asked to play in midfield and on the left wing as well as his usual role of left back.
O'Brien pledged his future to his boyhood side once again this summer when he signed a new two year deal.
