Bradford City boss Stuart McCall moved to strengthen his midfield department with the signing of experienced midfielder Michael Flynn.
The Newport native moved to the Coral Windows Stadium on a one year deal from local rivals Huddersfield Town in August 2009.
Flynn started his career with spells at home town club Newport County and fellow Welsh outfit Barry Town, before moving to England and joining Wigan Athletic in 2002.
His time at Wigan was filled with frustration as the Welshman struggled to break his way into the Latics first team. He was however part of the Wigan squad that secured the Division Two title in his first season at the club.
In a bid to find more first team football, Flynn enjoyed a brief loan spell at Blackpool the following season, before returning to Wigan in an attempt to finally gain a regular spot in the Latics line up.
This did not materlise however, and in the January transfer window of 2005, Flynn moved to Kent to join Gillingham on a free transfer.
Flynn's first season at Gillingham was a successful one on a personal note for the Welshman despite the Gills suffering relegation that campaign. His all action displays in midfield instantly won over the Gills faithful and made him an integral part of their first team set up.
Several injuries affected Flynn's 2005/06 campaign as he struggled to find regular fitness throughout the season. He came back with a bang the following season though, as he was named club captain and ended the season as Gillingham's top scorer.
In July 2007, Flynn ended his association with Gillingham and moved north for a second spell with Blackpool.
Flynn made 26 appearances for the Tangerines before transfering to Stan Ternant's Huddersfield Town in the summer of 2008.
The season started well for Flynn as he regularly appeared for the Terriers under Ternant's rein. Results for Huddersfield did not go so well and Ternant's position was quickly under threat.
By the time Ternant had been replaced by the former Newcastle United midfielder Lee Clark in December 2008, Flynn had fallen out of the first team picture at the Galpharm Stadium.
In the same month, the midfielder sampled League 2 football by joining Darlington for a brief loan period. Flynn returned to the Galpharm Stadium shortly afterwards, staying there until his move to the Coral Windows Stadium.
The fiery Welshman's energetic and forceful displays quickly established himself as firm fans favourite with Valley Parade regulars and he came renowned for his fierce shooting from distance.
His rocket of a right boot earned him his first two goals for City as thunderbolts from Flynn flew past the opposition keeper in consecutive matches against Rochdale and Shrewsbury respectively.
As the season has progressed, the vocal midfielder has become one of the key components of the Bantams squad due to his attitude and spirit shown on and off the field.
