Stewart loaned to Hamilton

Posted on: Fri 27 Jan 2012

City attacker Mark Stewart is set to finalise a return move back to his native Scotland after Bantams boss Phil Parkinson agreed to let the 23 year old go on loan to Hamiltion Academial.

Subject to Hamilton receiving the relevant clearances to complete the move, Stewart will move on loan to the Scottish First Division side until the end of the season.

Hamilton are currently situated in fifth position in the ten-team First Division table.

After finishing last season as Falkirk's top scorer, Stewart moved to Bradford in the summer but, not helped by a niggling foot injury, he has found himself falling down the pecking order in recent months.

James Hanson, Nahki Wells, Deane Smalley and Ross Hannah would appear to be ahead of him in the queue for forward places in Parkinson's line up, meaning Stewart has struggled for games himself.

The Scot has made fifteen appearances for the Bantams so far this season - his last coming in the drawn match with Morecambe nearly two weeks ago - but he has yet to find the net in the league during his six months at the Coral Windows Stadium.

Stewart's last starting apppearance came in the victory at home to Torquay United in early October.

Should, as expected, the deal be completed without a hitch, Stewart could now be in line to make his Accies debut in their home fixture with Raith Rovers this Saturday.
