The two different types of wheels will amalgamate on Sunday 9th May to raise money for the Bradford Burns Unit in conjunction with the 25th anniversary of the Bradford City Fire Disaster.
The owner of the 1936 Morris 8 two seat motor car, Terry Slocombe who was involved at the ground during and after the fire, will travel to Lincoln in the car on that date accompanied by the Rotary District Governor of Yorkshire Emyr Lloyd Davies.
On the Monday the return journey will be undertaken with Terry transporting the Rotary District Governor of Lincolnshire, Peter Mason back to Bradford.
Avoiding motorways the distance between Bradford and Lincoln is some 82 miles, making a total of some 164 miles to be completed in the two days. The Morris 8 top speed (downhill with the wind behind it) is in the region of 53 mph. but not sustainable. The AA route planner states the journey one way in a modern vehicle will take 2 hours and 7 minutes but not in a 74 year old car!
The journeys are intended to be non stop on each leg, barring breakdowns etc and the starting times and ending times will be noted
You are invited to guess THE TOTAL time for the two journeys in hours, minutes and seconds, being charged £1 for each guess and the money collected will be donated to the Bradford Burns Unit which was started as a result of the Bradford City Football Club Fire an 11 May 1985. The time will include any refuelling/breakdowns etc but not 'comfort' breaks or 'tea stops'
Prizes will be given for the nearest guessed time and in a 'collectors' draw. In the case of a tie, a name will be drawn at random from the joint winners.
Entry forms are available at the Surridge Superstore and the Bantams Ticket Office at the Coral Windows Stadium.
