Threlfall becomes Taylor's first signing

Posted on: Tue 23 Feb 2010

After less than a week at the club, Peter Taylor has moved quickly to bolster his squad with the loan signing of Robbie Thelfall.

The 21 year old left back joins the Bantams from Barclays Premier League giants Liverpool initially for one month.

Following Saturday's disappointing defeat at the hands of Accrington Stanley, Taylor had expressed his desire to bring new personnel into the club.

Less than 48 hours after the Crown Ground defeat, the new Bantams boss has done just that, with the signing of Thelfall expected to be followed by others in the coming days and weeks.

Thelfall will go straight into the Bantams squad for their visit to League 2 leaders Rochdale this Tuesday.

The youngster has already sampled the demands of League 2 football when he featured for Northampton during the early parts of this season.

Liverpool local, Thelfall started his career with the Reds after coming through the youth ranks at Anfield, where the 6ft defender twice won the F.A Youth Cup with Liverpool.

During the same period, Thelfall was also capped by England at Under 19 level when he featured against Poland in 2007.

His first taste of senior action came during a loan spell with Hereford United in the 2007/08 season, thought his appearances with the Bulls were limited due to injury.

Thelfall returned to Edgar Street at the start of the following season for a further six month loan period, before also enjoying a brief spell at Stockport County during the same campaign.

For the majortiy of this season, Thelfall has made himself a regular in a Liverpool reserve side that currently sit third in the Barclays Premier League Northern Reserve League.

Thelfall will wear squad number 28 during his time at Bradford City.
