Rahman looking for Rehman boost
City's first Asian associate director is confident he won't be the last.
Lutfur Rahman's involvement with Zesh Rehman has encouraged him to step up his interest in the club.
Rahman's Manningham-based company Adworx Printing run Rehman's personal website and he has got to know the player well since he came to Valley Parade.
So he was more than willing to follow in the footsteps of the big defender and City ambassador Omar Khan by increasing the Asian influence within the club.
Talking to the Telegraph & Argus Rahman said: "I'm really proud of this because I grew up in Bradford myself. I always wanted to be involved with the club and when David (Baldwin) gave me the opportunity, I was very glad to take it on.
"Bradford is an Asian-populated area and obviously getting Zesh and Omar Khan at the club is important. And with me becoming an associate director, having us all here will hopefully encourage more Asian fans and footballers to become a part of it.
"Maybe it will turn a few heads and people will think 'if they can do it, why can't we?'
"It is certainly a start. Bradford City have got big ambitions to get back up the league and it would really help to generate more support. Hopefully our presence will encourage more of the Asian community to come along. There is an Asian presence on the pitch in Zesh and I think this club can lead the way."
City director of operations David Baldwin said: "There are successful Asian businessmen out there in Bradford and our doors are always open for them to talk to us.
"From Lut's point of view, he's recognised that being involved with the club as an associate director has commercial benefits to him. It's a two-way thing and I encourage anybody to come and talk to us.
"He's the first Asian associate director and I hope he won't be the last.
"He's taken that step and there are opportunities for others to do the same."
