Charity trek for City fan

Posted on: Sat 27 Jun 2009

Stuart McCall met Bantams fan William Hainsworth to wish him well on his charity trek more than 19,000 feet up Mount Kilimanjaro.

The 22-year-old student is taking on the gruelling challenge to raise money for the Plastic Surgery and Burns Unit at the University of Bradford, set up after the Valley Parade fire disaster, which cost 56 lives in 1985.

Some of the money raised will also go towards Bradford Cancer Support.

Mr Hainsworth lives in Leicestershire but travels to Bradford most weekends to support City. His grandfather, 92-year-old Ken Hainsworth, of Heaton, Bradford, is a lifelong Bantams fan.

Mr Hainsworth will be travelling to Africa in August and will spend six days scaling the continent's highest mountain.
