The Carling Cup 1st round draw on Wednesday 17 June will give City fans their first fixture of the 2010/11 season.

The unseeded Bantams are likely to face tough opposition in that 1st round draw with the likes of former Premiership outfits Nottingham Forest, Sheffield United and Leicester City just some of the big names that could be waiting in the hat for City.

The Bantams could also face a mouth-watering tie against West Yorkshire rivals Leeds United or Huddersfield Town.

Since relegation from the Premiership, Bradford City have featured in nine previous League Cup first round matches down the years.

On the eve of the first Carling Cup draw of the season, www.bradfordcityfc.co.uk dips into the archives to look into those previous fixtures.

> Since the club's return to the League Cup first round stage in 2001, City have played nine fixtures in this stage of the competition. losing seven and winning two of those matches.

> Four of the nine fixtures have gone to extra time or beyond. The first of the four was City's first match back at the 1st round stage against Macclesfield Town. A Stuart McCall piledriver in extra time saw City safely into round two. Notts County took City took extra time in season 2004/05, with defender Rob Ullathorne's 105th minute strike winning it for County.

> The two other fixtures, Darlington in 2003/04 & Carlisle United in 2006/07, both went to penalties which the Bantams agonisingly lost.

> City's heaviest defeat in the period came in 2008/09 season during the West Yorkshire derby with Huddersfield Town, which the Bantams lost 4 - 0. The club's biggest victory in the period was 5 - 0 at Rochdale in 2005/06, mainly thanks to a Dean Windass hat-trick.

> The Bantams last victory in the competition was that victory at Spotland over Rochdale.

> The first round draw of the League Cup hasn't thrown up a home tie for the club since back in 2004, when the Bantams faced Notts County.

> In fact in the nine previous years of playing Carling Cup 1st round ties, the club has only played two fixtures at Valley Parade. Along with the tie against Notts County, the other home match for City in the League Cup was the penalty shootout defeat against Darlington.

> Despite losing seven of the clubs nine previous League Cup ties, the Bantams have also at least managed to trouble the scorers in six of the nine previous ties. The only three blemishes in the club's recent record was the recent defeat to Huddersfield, the penalty shoot out defeat to Darlington which finished 0 - 0 after extra time and last season's defeat to Nottingham Forest.

> City's last scorer in the Carling Cup was Kyle Nix against Wolverhampton Wanderers in August 2007.

> City's first scorer since returning to the 1st level of the League Cup was Scottish defender cum striker Andy Tod, his goal coming against Macclesfield Town in City's extra time victory at Moss Field in 2001.

> The seven times the League Cup draw has placed the Bantams away from home, it has done so with varied degrees of traveling involved. The club's nearest recent travels has included Huddersfield Town in 2008 and Rochdale in 2005. Severely more travelling was involved in 2002 and 2006 when City travelled to Wrexham & Carlisle United respectively. The club's other ties away from the comforts of home have been at Macclesfield and Nottingham.
