Kyle Nix signs new contract
Kyle Nix has signed for another year at Valley Parade - after proving boss Stuart McCall wrong.
Nix, who finished City's second-top scorer with eight goals, followed Barry Conlon in putting pen to paper on a new deal on Tuesday.
McCall has been delighted with the form of the all-action midfielder after throwing down the gauntlet when he gave the 22-year-old his second crack at the professional game.
Talking to the Telegraph & Argus McCall said: "I think he even surprised himself by how many games he has played. We've really seen him come on and flourish but that's a testament to his ability and his character.
"I said I couldn't see him playing left side because he lacked natural pace; and I couldn't see him in central midfield because he didn't have the height or the physical attributes.
"But he just went out there to show me how capable he was and that's what I want to see in a player.
"When you put down a challenge, you want to see people overcome them and Nixy has done that.
"But he's set his standards now. He can't come back next season thinking he has already made it - but I know that's not going to happen."
Full back Luke O'Brien has also signed his new contract, while fellow youngsters Sean Taylforth and Luke Medley are currently mulling over their offers but there is nothing to suggest they will not sign.
City's players have now officially clocked off for the summer but left Valley Parade with strict fitness programmes to follow.
Omar Daley is likely to report back a week later than the rest for pre-season because Jamaica play four internationals during the break.
McCall said: "They've got two friendlies and two World Cup qualifiers coming up, so we know he will be ticking over with those."
