Good evening and a warm welcome to the Coral Windows Stadium to all the directors, players, staff and supporters of Notts County who have made the trip here this evening.
Roller-coaster, the word that probably best describes the season thus far for the fans of Notts County !
Before the season started they could hardly have thought that by March they would have seen leaving the club, their Chairman and two managers.
Add to that the likes of Sven Eriksson and Sol Campbell who have been and gonethrough the clubs doors for good measure, what a season so far.
Yet to their credit they are still very much in the mix for promotion.
With their new manager and his results to date few would bet against them reaching their ultimate aim of promotion.
I must congratulate our own Zesh Reman for his recent award from the Football League for the Community Player of the Year Award.
This award was open to Premier Clubs through to and including league two clubs, so quite an achievement, certainly one we should be proud of as a club.
This award also demonstrates and is another example of all the hard work going on behind the scenes, here at the club.
Yet when so called supporters abuse Mark Lawn in the way they did at Accrington Stanley, I wonder what they think their actions did to help the club.
If these people could see the amount of hard work Mark and Julian put into this club they should be ashamed off themselves.
This hard work ethic runs throughout the club and is a credit to people like Dave Baldwin and his team, and Roger Owen but to name a few.
All of us hurt like hell when we lose, but such actions taken by these people are so negative, especially when we have so many positives at Bradford City.
On the pitch, in the short time Peter Taylor has been here, I am sure we can all see solid progress.
Certainly one interesting aspect is the real threat we pose at dead ball situations.
I was not sure what Mr Alan Biggins was eluding to in the last programme notes when he spoke about "defensive parsimony", I must admit I had to get home and get the dictionary out to be doubly sure !
My first dictionary said parsimony meant penny pinching, well Alan is an accountant but this did not sound right, so I looked again and found the words closeness and meanness, so Alan meant Peter is clearly aiming to build a close and mean defence.
Like Alan I would like to thank Stuart McCall for all his hard work,I wish him every success wherever he decides to take his career.
He came a legend he leaves a legend, what more can be said.
Finally although the season has not gone the way we had all hoped lets finish on high, who knows where this could take us.
Rest assured you do make a massive difference, so please get behind Peter and the team.
Enjoy the game !
