"I must stress, I will not accept abuse like this any longer"

Welcome to the Coral Windows Stadium for this afternoon's match against Darlington. We extend a warm welcome to the players, officials and supporters who have made the trip from the North East this afternoon.

I want to start today by reflecting on an incident that happened at the Accrington Stanley match last weekend that has deeply upset both myself and my family.

I spent last Saturday morning looking for places for our new manager Peter Taylor to live and, as a result, I got to the ground later than I would usually. As a result, I was forced to park next to the team coach and the security officials at the ground asked if I would mind moving my car a few minutes before the final whistle to avoid blocking other vehicles.

I left my seat in the ground about 15 minutes before the end of the match, when we were already trailing by two goals to nil. There were several other Bradford City fans who had also left early and some of them decided to use this opportunity to abuse me verbally and attack my car. There are two in particular that I would like to mention. Firstly, there was the youth who snapped the aerial off my car. He was fortunate as his face was obscured by a grey hoodie, but I did see the woman he was with. If I see her at the ground at any time in future, I shall demand to speak to her and ask her to identify the person responsible for the damage. If she refuses to do so, I shall have her banned from stadium.

The second individual was the young man who banged on my car window and demanded to speak to me. He was asking me in an expletive fashion why I was leaving early and I replied that he did not have to explain my actions to him. I put the window back up and he used a torrent of foul and abusive language towards me. Fortunately, I did see this person's face very closely and I would ask that he makes contact with me at the club to explain why he did what he did as well. If he fails to do so, I shall have him banned from the stadium as well.

If so-called supporters think they can carry on abusing me in this way and cause criminal damage to my car, then I would rather they did not come to the football club. If they have got a season ticket, they should come and see me and I will give them a refund.

After the events of Saturday, I spoke to Julian the following day and explained that I felt like taking my money - including my loan - out of the football club. He made it clear that the effect of me doing so would mean that the club would go into administration immediately. Once I had calmed down, I decided that, as a Bradford City fan, I did not feel like I could allow this to happen. But I must stress that I will not accept abuse like this any longer.

Here at the club, we now have a clear policy of dealing with complaints. If someone writes in to me with a complaint, I will make an appointment to see them, the appropriate response will be actioned and a full report will be sent to the individual concerned. This is the procedure I have used in my previous businesses and it is how we handle complaints here.

Despite making myself available to speak to fans at any time - either here at the club or at a location of their choosing - there remains a large number of erroneous reports about both Julian and myself. In particular, there has been speculation recently about how much money we are taking out of the club.

I would like to make it absolutely clear that Julian and I receive no income whatsoever from Bradford City Football Club, apart from the use of a mobile phone. If any of you would like to work six or seven days a week for nothing - oh, and invest £2m of your own money - for no return, then please do get in touch and you can take over from me immediately.

I hope this clarifies one or two matters that some of our supporters have been speculating about. Perhaps these people would rather get rid of the genuine fans who are running the club in favour of investors who are looking to make a return - something like what happened at Notts County? As a fan, I happen to think that would be a bad idea.

Having set the record straight on these matters, I would like to finish by talking about something much more positive - namely football matters. It was great to see that Peter Taylor went to Rochdale, who are one of the best footballing teams in the division, and got a massive result for us. I think that, given time, Peter could gel a team that could take Bradford City up the leagues, but I hope that the fans don't expect too much too soon and give him the time he needs to do this. I think that the response of the players at Rochdale proved what they are capable of and let's hope they can put on a repeat performance today.

I shall not be at today's match as I am taking some time away to reflect on what happened at Accrington. I hope you all enjoy the game.
