Stuart McCall

All-time favourite Stuart re-signed for Bradford City from Scottish giants Rangers on a free transfer on 2 June 1998.

Leeds born, he initially joined the Bantams as an apprentice and captained the side throughout the 1987/88 season in which City narrowly missed out on promotion to the old Division 1.

He moved to Everton for £875,000 in 1988 and spent three years at Goodison Park before moving on to Rangers for £1.2m where he picked up six Scottish Championship medals.

McCall has been capped 40 times for his country but was unable to make Craig Brown's squad for France '98.

The 2000/2001 season saw Stuart take on a new responsibility when he was appointed as Assistant Manager following Chris Hutchings' elevation to Manager, subsequently taking on the role of Acting Manager on Hutchings' departure in November but ruling himself out of the running for the post permanently.

On the appointment of Jim Jefferies he took on the role as 1st team coach but stressing a desire to continue playing he relinquished this role and stayed at the club for a further season before being released at the end of the 2001/2002 season, not before he had his Testimonial Game at the Bradford & Bingley Stadium when an ex-Bradford City XI took on an ex-Rangers XI.

Returned to Valley Parade in June 2007 when he took up the post as Manager having spent five years at Sheffield United as player and then Assistant Manager.

McCall enjoyed over two and a half years at the helm of the Bantams, with mixed fortunes along the way.

After dip in results mid-way through his third season in charge, McCall resigned from his position as manager to begrudgingly leave his beloved Bantams.
