TEN OF THE BEST - 7. MK DONS (H)

26 May 2015

Last Friday, we revealed number 8 in the countdown from 10 to 1 of the list of best City victories from throughout the 2014-15 season. Number 8 was of course the 3-0 victory at Yorkshire rivals and fellow play-off chasers Doncaster Rovers, with Gary MacKenzie, Billy Clarke, and Tony McMahon scoring the goals to secure the three points for the Bantams. At 7, it’s the 2-1 win against MK Dons at the Coral Windows Stadium, in front of the Sky Cameras.

The Bantams completed the double over Karl Robinson’s side, with a superb come from behind victory against the MK Dons, a team who will be playing their football in the Championship this coming season.

Having recently confirmed a £5 Million move to Premier League Tottenham Hotspur, highly rated youngster Dele Alli put the visitors ahead after an uncharacteristic distributional error by loanee stopper Jordan Pickford.

A couple of minutes later, City got themselves level through Billy Clarke, who beat the offside trap to slot confidently past David Martin.

The winner came through James Hanson, producing an assured finish with 20 minutes remaining after latching onto a superb through ball by Jon Stead to confirm the three points, City’s first home league win of 2015.

Parkinson’s Reaction:

‘I’m very pleased (with the victory). The first thing I’ve got to say, is that I thought the energy levels of the team tonight, was outstanding.’

‘I don’t think you’d of known that we’d had a game two days before on a massive pitch, and when you’re the home team in that second game, the onus is on you to play in a positive fashion, close down and come up with a real energetic performance. I thought the lads did that well tonight.’

‘I think it’s a credit to the players for the way they’re training and the way they look after themselves; Nick Allamby has got to take credit for that, for his meticulous preparation for the lads, because that’s important for us tonight.’

League Table:
