Steven Davies remains suspended, meaning Reece Webb-Foster could be included in City's travelling party after the young striker scored four times in the reserves on Wednesday afternoon.
For opponents Southend, Shrimpers boss Phil Brown could turn to experienced striking duo Noel Hunt and David Mooney after the pair recently returned to full fitness.
Brown has hinted pre-match that centre half Piotr Malarczyk could be given his Southend debut following the Polish defender's loan move from Ipswich Town earlier this season.

Supporters are reminded that they should not enter the field of play or perimeter track at any time at either home or away games.
Entering the field is, of course, a criminal offence for the individual and could have serious consequences for Bradford City.
