REALLY ENJOY THE OCCASION

6 March 2015

Bantams boss Phil Parkinson has urged City supporters to savour every single second of this Saturday when his side take on Reading at the Coral Windows Stadium for a place in the F.A Cup Semi Finals.

In front of an expected full house at Valley Parade, Parkinson's men face their Championship opponents at the weekend in a mouth-watering last-eight tie - the club's first appearance at this stage of the competition since 1976.

As City aim to make the semis for only the second time in their history, Parkinson knows the eyes of the country will be on the Coral Windows Stadium come Saturday's 12:45pm kick off time.

With that in mind, Parkinson wants the club's fans to really make the most of Saturday's historic occasion.

Parkinson said: "We know there will be a lot of Premier League teams looking on this Saturday at ourselves and Reading with envy. They will want to be where we are - in an F.A Cup Quarter Final.

"I really want our supporters to enjoy every bit of the day come Saturday.

"From the minute they wake up, they should soak in all of it.

"The walk to the stadium, getting into the ground, the warm-up, the songs and atmosphere building up around the ground before the game, the match itself - this sort of occasion doesn't come around very often so the fans need to make the most of it.

"After the Sunderland win in the previous round, the fans received nearly as many plaudits as the players because of the atmosphere they created around the stadium.

"Hopefully they can create another on Saturday and make it a day that will hopefully stay with us for many years to come."

While this Saturday's match is sure to be a special event for virtually all City supporters, the quarter final tie will also be memorable for Parkinson himself as well.

Parkinson spent the majority of his playing career at Reading - eleven years in total - and he stills holds legendary status among Royals fans to this day.

Parkinson added: "I had many great years at Reading and I have a lot of fond memories from my time there.

"I am looking forward to seeing a lot of good friends after the game for a catch-up.

"Once that dressing room door closes an hour before kick off, however, there will be no room for sentiment.

"We have an opportunity to get Bradford City into the F.A Cup Semi Finals for the first time since 1911 and we want to make that a reality.

"Reading have a great infrastructure and they are an extremely well-run club.

"They have been to the Premier League twice in the last nine years and they still have a lot of players in their squad that have Premiership and International experience.

"We will have to be at our very best if we want to progress."
