Possible delays on Canal Road

1 March 2014

City supporters are being urged to set off for this Saturday's (1 March 2014) home fixture with Stevenage a little earlier due to essential gas repair works in the area around Victoria Park.

Engineers from Northern Gas Networks are currently on site carrying out emergency repair work to a gas main in Canal Road, Bradford, after water from a damaged water main made its way into a gas pipe.

To enable engineers to complete the emergency repair work safely it may be necessary to temporarily restrict pedestrian access on Canal Road heading into Bradford city centre from Shipley.

Graeme Cleeton, Regional Manager, Northern Gas Networks, said: “The safety of our customers is our number one priority. Our engineers are working hard to remove the water from our pipes so that we can get everyone affected back on gas as quickly as possible.

"I would advise football fans to leave a little earlier today and avoid the Canal Road area so that they get to the ground in good time."

“We would like to apologise to customers for the inconvenience caused and thank everyone for their patience and understanding.

“If anyone has any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact an engineer on site or call the Customer Care team on 0845 634 0508, option 2.”
