PARKINSON: WE HAVE PLENTY TO BE POSITIVE ABOUT

19 March 2016

Bantams boss Phil Parkinson was able to take plenty of heart from City's narrow defeat at the hands of a much-fancied Wigan Athletic side following a hard-working and enterprising performance from his team at the DW Stadium.

After fully playing their part in a competitive encounter, Parkinson's men looked set for a battling point at Wigan until Latics substitute Haris Vuckic swooped nine minutes from the end of normal time to fire home from close range.

The unfortunate loss was a bitter pill for City and their travelling army of over 3,000 supporters to swallow but Parkinson was still encouraged by the Bantams' display.

Parkinson was confident that City could have an exciting nine games left in the regular season if they continued to play in the same vein they have done in recent games.

He said: "We have been a match for them (Wigan) today (Saturday) and we deserved something from the game.

"We've got into some good positions in the game but we just couldn't find that one moment - it is cruel for us to lose this one.

"We came here with a clear plan of how we wanted to play and the lads have implemented that very well but sometimes you don't get your rewards.

"The players have shown a lot of heart, effort and commitment throughout this game.

"If we keep performing the way we have been playing recently, we will hopefully get some wins over the coming games.

"We have an exciting Easter period to look forward to and we have to move on from this defeat and focus on next weekend.

"We still have plenty to play for, we are knocking on the door at the right end of the table.

"We just have to keep playing the way we have been, keep positive, and give every game a really good go.

"The intensity was there again from the lads this afternoon. We look full of running and that bodes well for these last nine games."
