PARKINSON TO LOOK AT SQUAD OPTIONS

3 September 2015

Bantams boss Phil Parkinson admits places within his team for Saturday's trip to Oldham Athletic are still up for grabs.

With loanee midfielder Lee Evans away on international duty with Wales' Under 21s, Parkinson is set to make at least one change to his starting eleven at Oldham's SportsDirect.com Park.

Loan defender Reece Burke will be allowed to play for City in the game, however, despite his recent call up into the England Under 20s squad.

Christopher Routis and Tony McMahon are back in contention after injury and illness respectively while last Saturday's match-winner, Devante Cole, is pushing for a start after catching the eye against Port Vale.

Parkinson said: "We've had a lot of changes over the summer - players coming in as late as last Friday with Devante (Cole).

"It is a case of individual players getting to know each other now and building those partnerships.

"I feel that is getting there and hopefully we will keep improving.

"We don't want to put too much onus on Devante (Cole) but he's had a great start to his time here.

"He's looked bright in training this week and we'll just make the decision prior to the game as to whether we feel he is ready to start or whether we keep him on the bench.

"Lee (Evans) is away with Wales but we've managed to get Reece (Burke) back from England. That is a big boost for us to keep that continuity in defence.

"Reece has settled in well and we hope he can continue his good form.

"Tony (McMahon) has looked better. He has been progressing nicely this week and looking good in training.

"Chris's (Routis) hamstring is fine now. He's another one whose had a positive week in training.

"It is good to have those two knocking on the door.

"We've got some difficult decisions to make in terms of team selection.

"Anyone who doesn't start on Saturday though, they have do what Josh Morris, Luke James and Devante (Cole) have done recently and that is make a statement when they get a chance off the bench."
