We owe you one

6 September 2012

Bantams boss Phil Parkinson is looking for his side to give supporters something to cheer about this weekend when City travel to Accrington Stanley in npower League 2.

Parkinson knows his City squad didn't give value-for-money last weekend to the 2,200+ supporters who travelled to Rotherham United for the Bantams' four-goal defeat at the New York Stadium.

With another four-figure away support expected at Accrington's Crown Ground to cheer Parkinson's men on this Saturday, City's chief is fully aware that the Bantams must look to make amends.

Parkinson said: "I'll be pleased if our supporters come back in their numbers after last Saturday (Rotherham United), I'm sure they will because we have some of the best supporters in the country.

"We definitely owe them a performance (at Accrington), and we've going to try our hardest to make sure we put one on."

With opponents Accrington having won three out of their first four league matches, however, Parkinson knows his side will be in for a challenge at the weekend.

"We will be giving Accrington the utmost respect because they are a good side. They have deservedly enjoyed a good start to the season," Parkinson added.

"We know how they are going to play - Cooky (Accrington manager Paul Cook) likes to get the ball down and play, and we know what we have to do to combat that."
