PARKINSON PLEASED TO SEE CHANGES PAY OFF

4 March 2015

Bantams boss Phil Parkinson was encouraged to see his much-changed line up pick up a welcome win over Crawley Town at the Coral Windows Stadium this Tuesday.

Four days ahead of City's F.A Cup Quarter Final with Reading and following back-to-back away defeats, Parkinson chose to freshen up his starting eleven for the club's Sky Bet League 1 fixture with Crawley.

The alterations made by Parkinson for the visit of Crawley had the desired affect as well, with one of the players promoted up into his team, Francois Zoko, netting a ninth-minute winner.

Goalscorer Zoko was one of seven changes in total made by Parkinson following Saturday's defeat at Peterborough United.

Along with Zoko, Parkinson also brought in Christopher Routis and Matthew Dolan for rare starts, while Mark Yeates, James Meredith, Gary MacKenzie and the fit-again James Hanson were also recalled.

Parkinson added: "The lads did really, really well tonight - I thought Matty Dolan was excellent in midfield.

"He picked up a lot of the loose balls and passed it well - I was pleased for him because he is one of those players who have missed out a lot this season.

"He showed a lot of composure as well on the ball.

"Christopher Routis is another player who has been unlucky not to feature more.

"It is a big boost for the squad that those players have come in tonight and done well.

"Ideally, we would have liked to have given James (Hanson) only 75 minutes on his return back from injury but we needed to keep his height on the pitch late on for set-pieces.

"When balls are being launched into your box late on, there is no-one better to come back and help you head them clear.

"James is a fit lad though, and we'll give him plenty of rest before Saturday.

"It was always going to be a bit of a gamble making so many changes but I just felt we needed to freshen up the side.

"For those lads to come in and do well then is a real boost for us not just for the weekend but for the rest of the season.

"I thought it was a deserved three points.

"We started the game really well. It was always going to be a war of attrition out there due to the conditions but we stuck to our task well.

"Apart from the header from Izale McLeod towards the end, I felt pretty comfortable."
