PARKINSON HAILS CLARKE'S HAUL

4 May 2015

Bantams boss Phil Parkinson was once again able to sing the praises of influential attacker Billy Clarke after the Irishman finished the season as City's top scorer following his match-winner at Crewe Alexandra on Sunday.

In his first campaign with the Bantams, Clarke's fourteenth goal of the season midway into the first period at Crewe's Alexandra Stadium was enough to secure City's ninth league away win and seventh spot in the Sky Bet League 1 table.

Clarke's end-of-season haul is all the more commendable considering he started only 38 of City's 58 games during the 2014/2015 season and spent most of the year playing in a 'number ten' role just behind the main strikers.

Clarke's form in the latter stages of the season also makes for impressive reading, with the 27 year-old having scored six times in the Bantams' last ten games, including three goals in the final four fixtures.

Parkinson said: "If you look at the number of games he has started in during this season, that amount of goals is a good return for Billy.

"As all of our fans will be aware of though, Billy is more than just a goalscorer. He gives the opposition manager and his team something to think about in the final third.

"He was finding a lot of space in behind the strikers today (Sunday) and it was interesting to see if they (Crewe Alexandra) were going to change anything to try and stop that.

"Billy is a very clever player and he finds pockets (of space) all over the pitch.

"His finishing is also superb, and it was another great finish from him today."
