LESS THAN A WEEK UNTIL JOHN'S CHARITY TREK!

18 April 2015

There is now less than a week to go until City's popular kit man John Duckworth dusts off his walking boots and sets off on another charity trek for the Bradford Burns Unit!

John is planning to walk the 73 miles between Lincoln City's Sincil Bank ground and the Coral Windows Stadium ahead of the Bantams' final league home match of the season against Barnsley next Saturday (25 April 2015).

The life-long City supporter has selected to undertake the challenge, which he will actually begin on Friday, to coincide with the forthcoming 30th anniversary of the Valley Parade fire disaster.

Lincoln has been chosen as the starting point for the charity walk given the fact that the Imps were City's opponents on that fateful day on Saturday 11 May 1985.

For John, the walk, of course, will not be the first time he has made this particular trek!

John walked from Valley Parade to Sincil Bank ahead of City's New Year's Day match with Lincoln in 2011 before making the return journey (Sincil Bank to Valley Parade) in a secondary charity trek ahead of the Bantams' final home match of the season against Swindon Town in 2012.

On top of those sterling efforts, the City kit man - along with the assistance of his BantamsTrek group - has also helped to organise plenty of other fundraising events over the years, including three Yorkshire Three Peaks walking challenges, two coffee mornings and numerous other charity events for the Burns Unit and MacMillan Cancer Support.

As John makes his trip from Sincil Bank to the Coral Windows Stadium this weekend, he will be joined along the way by a selection of Barnsley supporters also walking to the Yorkshire derby.

It has now also been confirmed that a number of City supporters will be joining John on route as well.

For any supporters meeting John and his walking group at Tong School, please can they contact Angela Gordon - agordan1966@hotmail.co.uk - to provide car registration details for the car you will be using on the day and the amount of people that will be in that car. This information is for security purposes and has been requested by the school.

City fans can show their support to John and the Bradford Burns Unit by visiting his Just Giving site and pledging what they can - please click HERE.

SUPPORTERS CAN ALSO DONATE BY TEXTING BANT56 (amount) TO 70070 (eg BANT56 £2.00 to 70070).

The aim for John, as with his previous Lincoln to Bradford walks, will be to complete the trek in under 24 hours.
