Bantams boss Phil Parkinson has completed his first signing of the summer by securing the signature of competitive midfielder Jason Kennedy.
Kennedy, 26, penned a two-year deal with the Bantams this Tuesday morning before training with his new City team-mates at Apperley Bridge for the first time on day two of the club's pre-season programme.
The midfielder joins City on a free transfer following the expiry of his contract at Rochdale.
Before his move to City, Kennedy spent four seasons at Rochdale, playing a key role in each campaign and making himself a massive fans favourite at Spotland as a result.
Kennedy helped Dale to promotion into League 1 in his first season with the Lancashire club - the 2009/10 campaign - before featuring heavily again in the following campaign as Keith Hill's men finished a superb ninth in their first season back in the third tier.
Standing at 6' 1'', Kennedy certainly has the physical presence to compete for the ball in central areas. He is also renowned, however, for his key passing abilities as well and would regularly take a lot of the set-pieces during his time with Rochdale.
On top of that, Kennedy isn't a stranger to finding the back of the net either, averaging roughly five goals a season for the last five campaigns.
Kennedy said: "Everything the gaffer said to me in the lead up to me signing here matches my own ambitions really. For me, this is a club that is going to progress and hopefully I can be part of that.
"I took a great interest in Bradford's matches last season because I have friends here in the team already. Obviously Bradford did really well last season and had a long and successful year.
"I know a few of the lads already from previous clubs, the likes of Andrew Davies from my time with Middlesbrough, Ricky Ravenhill from Darlington and Darbs (Stephen Darby), Jonah (Gary Jones) and Rory (McArdle) from Rochdale. It has helped me settle in already really.
"Jonah, in particular, has become somewhat of a mentor to me really. He is a great pro and someone I look up to. I was a young lad when I joined Rochdale and first played alongside him.
"I learnt a lot from him and I have looked to take a lot of what he does into my own game. He is a true professional and someone you should aspire to be like."
Kennedy added: "I've previously played in League 1 so I am confident I can do well in the division. It could be a really tough league next season with some of the big teams that will be in the division, but I am confident we can do well with the players we have here.
"For me personally, I like to play in the big games and play in front of the big crowds. There will be some big grounds to go to this season, but the home following here is massive as well so there will be a lot of big games for us."
Parkinson said: "Jason has a lot of attributes to his game and he impressed me with his hunger and desire.
"He has the ability to really make his mark on this squad."
Along with his successful stint with Rochdale, Kennedy has previously also featured for Darlington after originally turning pro with Middlesbrough.
Kennedy won the F.A Youth Cup as a junior with 'Boro back in 2004 and also made an appearance for the club during their famous run to the UEFA Cup Final in 2006.
