JAMES ARRIVES ON LOAN

10 July 2015

Bantams boss Phil Parkinson has boosted his striking options for the forthcoming 2015/2016 campaign by bringing in Peterborough United forward Luke James on loan.

Following a medical with the club this Friday, James has signed with the Bantams on a season-long loan from Peterborough.

The 20 year-old now joins the likes of James Hanson, Steven Davies, Billy Clarke and Oliver McBurnie in Parkinson's attacking arsenal for the new Sky Bet League 1 season.

As part of the terms of James' loan deal, the striker won't be allowed to play against Peterborough throughout the season. He has been cleared, however, to play for City in cup competitions.

There is also no call-back clause in the deal.

After taking part in his first training session with his new team-mates, James said: "I knew I probably would have to go out on loan from Peterborough so I was pleased when I heard of Bradford's interest - they are a huge club.

"I'm hoping I can use this loan period to show people what I can do. That means getting a few goals and a few assists.

"There is a really good squad of lads here and we'll be hoping to do things this season. I want to try and be a part of that.

"Having heard about the season ticket sales, it is definitely something you want to be involved in. You want to play in front of those sort of crowds.

"I'd like to hit the ground running and show the fans what I can do."

The hard-working forward, who is known for his busy and tenacious style of play, originally moved to Peterborough towards the start of last season from Hartlepool United for a reported fee of at least £500,000.

The young attacker signed a four-year deal with the Posh.

James earned his move to Peterborough after a hugely impressive spell with first club Hartlepool.

After scoring his maiden goal for Pools aged only 17 - making him Hartlepool's youngest ever goalscorer in the process - the striker's commendable form over the next couple of seasons alerted the attentions of a number of higher division clubs.

In his final full season with Hartlepool before his move to Peterborough, James won Pools' Player of the Year and Players' Player of the Year award.

City's new arrival will probably be remembered by most supporters for his eye-catching performance during Hartlepool's 5-0 win over the Bantams in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy back in September 2013.
