HANSON LIKELY FOR CRAWLEY

28 February 2015

Bantams boss Phil Parkinson is confident top scorer James Hanson will be fit for this Tuesday’s home fixture with Crawley Town.

Hanson has missed City’s last three games with a hamstring problem but Parkinson revealed post-match that the forward was close to finding a place on the bench for Saturday’s game at Peterborough United.

With the Bantams deciding to err on the side of caution and leave Hanson out altogether though, Parkinson says he sees no reason why the giant striker shouldn't be in contention for the Coral Windows Stadium fixture against Crawley.

Hanson’s expected return would certainly be a shot in the arm for the Bantams, especially given the striker’s recent form.

Before his injury at Leyton Orient, Hanson had scored four goals in his previous three league games.

Parkinson said: “Hanson perhaps could have been on the bench today (Saturday) but another day of training with him on Monday should make him definitely available for Tuesday.

“I’d be very surprised if James isn’t fit to start the match on Tuesday.”

While Hanson narrowly missed out on a return to action at Peterborough’s ABAX Stadium, Andrew Davies, who has also been troubled recently with a hamstring injury, was fit enough to play the whole match.

Parkinson added: “He’s jarred his knee a bit but I thought he was excellent.

“Dava (Andrew Davies) was superb for us – I don’t think his knee isn’t anything serious.

“Matty Barrass (Head Physio) was confident his hamstring would be fine and he called it right.

“It is good to have him back – he was magnificent.”
