FACTS AND FIGURES OF THE SEASON

5 May 2015

After fifty-eight games, a season-long push for the Play-Offs and a spot in the last eight of the F.A Cup, City finally brought the curtain down on their 2014/2015 campaign on Sunday with victory over Crewe Alexandra on the final day of the League 1 season.

That win at Crewe's Alexandra Stadium helped Phil Parkinson's men secure seventh spot in the League 1 table - City's highest finish in the Football League standings since 2004.

The victory was also the Bantams' ninth league success away from home of the season.

With cup wins over Leeds United, Sunderland and Chelsea to go with a pleasing league campaign, it has certainly been another season of progression under Parkinson and his team.

Below are just some of the other interesting facts and figures to go with another memorable campaign for the Bantams.

  • The crowd figure of 24,321 for City's quarter-final tie against Reading at the Coral Windows Stadium was the largest attendance seen at Valley Parade in its current configuration. The attendance of 24,021 for the fifth round win over Sunderland three weeks earlier was previously the highest figure before the Reading home tie.
  • City's highest home league attendance of the season was 16,032 for the Easter Monday fixture with Preston North End.
  • The Bantams' average home attendance was 13,352 - the second best in League 1 for the season.
  • City's highest away following was the 6,000 they took to Chelsea.
  • The highest away following by the Bantams in the league was 2,457 for last month's trip to Sheffield United. City also brought 2,410 to Doncaster Rovers and 2,333 to Rochdale.

  • City became only the second English team after Sunderland to defeat Jose Mourinho's Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in normal time during their memorable fourth round win.
  • The Bantams also became the first club to win at Stamford Bridge all season. They still remain the only side to win at Chelsea during the 2014/2015 campaign.
  • City were the first side to come from two goals down to win at Stamford Bridge ever under Mourinho's reign.
  • The Bantams were the first English side to score four goals past Mourinho's Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
  • The Bantams scored an incredible 19 goals in total in the F.A Cup this season.
  • Jon Stead is still currently joint top scorer in this season's competition on five goals with West Brom's Saido Berahino and Preston North End's Paul Gallagher. It would need something outstanding like a hat-trick from Arsenal's Alexis Sanchez during this month's final to deny Stead finishing this season's competition as one of the joint top scorers.
  • Stead finished the season with the highest number of assists for the Bantams - 11 in total. Mark Yeates was next down on the list with 9 assists.
  • City played eight FA Cup ties this campaign - the most the club have ever played in the competition during one single season.
  • The club were in this season's FA Cup for a total of 128 days.
  • Including home attendances and away followings, Phil Parkinson's men were watched by 69,773 supporters during their cup run.
  • City were the only side to defeat Preston North End at Deepdale in League 1 this season.
  • The Bantams secured four 'doubles' this season with home and away victories over Milton Keynes Dons, Leyton Orient, Crawley Town and Crewe Alexandra.
  • City scored 77 goals throughout the 2014/2015 campaign in all competitions.

  • Billy Clarke finished the campaign as City's top scorer on 14 goals. Jon Stead (11) and James Hanson (11) also made double figures.
  • Perhaps unsurprisingly, skipper Stephen Darby made the most appearances of the season - 56. The only games he missed were the away league fixture at Bristol City due to suspension and the Capital One Cup tie at Milton Keynes Dons when he was rested due to a calf injury.
  • City kept 17 clean sheets in total throughout the campaign.
  • Five of City's nine league away wins came against the top ten finishers in the League 1 table - Milton Keynes Dons (2nd), Preston North End (3rd), Chesterfield (6th), Rochdale (8th) and Fleetwood Town (10th).
  • City used 29 players in total during the season - four less than in the 2013/2014 campaign.
  • 17 different players scored for City this season - one more than last year.
  • City were awarded just two penalties this season. Once at home to Coventry City on the opening day and then against Swindon Town, also at home, in September.
  • Seven of City's matches this season were shown live on television. Four games on Sky Sports (Leeds United, Barnsley, Sheffield United and Milton Keynes Dons), two on BT Sport (FC Halifax Town and Reading) and one on BBC Sport (Reading replay).
  • The Bantams were represented by nine different nations throughout the 2014/2015 campaign, including Frenchman Christopher Routis, Ivorian Francois Zoko and Portuguese winger Filipe Morais.
