Dolan picked up the problem in the warm-up ahead of Pools' home fixture with Oxford United this Saturday.
The 21 year-old was named in Hartlepool's line up for the game - new boss Ronnie Moore's first match in charge - but he was forced to pull out of the fixture because of the injury and now looks set for a spell on the sidelines.
Before this injury, Dolan had made two appearances for Hartlepool following his one-month loan move to Victoria Park at the end of November.
