DAVIES BECOMES CITY'S FIRST SUMMER SIGNING

30 June 2015

The Bantams are delighted to be able to confirm that they have secured their first signing of the summer by snapping up experienced striker Steven Davies.

Davies, 27, moves to the Coral Windows Stadium on a one-year deal after leaving Blackpool at the end of last season.

The Liverpool-born forward finished the 2014/2015 campaign on loan at City's League 1 rivals, Sheffield United.  The striker trained with his new City team-mates this Tuesday at the club's Apperley Bridge training ground.

Upon completing his first transfer of pre-season, Bantams boss Phil Parkinson said: "Steve is a very technical player with a great left foot. He has quality in his all-round game.

"He has played most of his career at Championship level and is still only 27 years old. There is still a lot of football years ahead for him.

"We have got ourselves a very talented player."

After starting his career at local club Tranmere Rovers, Davies moved to Championship side Derby County back in 2008.

The 6' 1'' attacker's move to Pride Park would see him begin a run of seven straight seasons playing in England's second tier.

The only time Davies has played outside of the Championship since 2008 was during his aforementioned loan spell at Bramall Lane for the final two months of the previous campaign.

After four years with Derby, Davies moved onto Bristol City in 2012.

The forward would score thirteen goals in his one and only season at Ashton Gate, earning himself a move to Championship rivals Blackpool in 2013.

Following his transfers to Derby, Bristol City and Blackpool earlier in his career, Davies' three previous moves have seen clubs spend a combined fee of around £1.8 million for his services.
