Former Bantams star Benito Carbone will play in a charity football match at the Ricoh Arena, Coventry, on Sunday 4th May to raise money for UK military charity, Help for Heroes.
The event, named Football for Heroes, will see a British Defence Medical Services team take on a recently-retired Legends' XI, with Carbone joining a host of ex-Premier League greats, including former Everton trio Kevin Kilbane, Alan Stubbs and Lee Carsley, as well as Midlands icons Dion Dublin, Ugo Ehiogu and Darren Huckerby, in signing for the Legends’ squad.
Carbone played 42 times for Bradford City in the Premiership and Division One (now Championship) between 2000 and 2002.
Carbone, who now manages Saint Christophe in his native Italy, said: “Help for Heroes is a fantastic charity and I am so proud to be a part of an amazing event which does so much good.
“I hope everyone comes along to support this great event and I am really looking forward to putting my boots back on."
Alongside the 90-minute spectacle, supporters will be able to socialise in a specially created family fan zone, before and after the game, which will see a number of Armed Forces-led activities taking place.
There will also be performances on the day from the Military Wives choir and military bands, and, following the match, a dinner and auction will be held at the stadium to celebrate the inaugural event.
Tickets for the match, which is being backed by the League Managers Association and Professional Footballers’ Association, can be purchased in advance for just £10 for adults and £5 for under 16s, with further discounts available for family and student tickets.
