Johnstone's Paint Trophy second round (North East section)
Tuesday 13 October 2015

Attendance: 4,127 (551 visitors)

Two set-piece goals from visitors Barnsley proved to be City's downfall as they fell out of the Johnstone's Paint Trophy to their South Yorkshire neighbours.

Fighting for a home tie with York City in the Area Quarter-Finals, City took the lead of the rearranged tie midway through the first period thanks to Billy Knott's well-taken strike from just inside the box.

Barnsley equalised on eve of the interval, however, when Marley Watkins swooped to glance home a header from Conor Hourihane's wide free-kick delivery.

Hourihane was on hand to assist with the Tykes winning goal after the break as well, Barnsley skipper Alfie Mawson this time the man to profit when he powered in a header from another free-kick set-piece roughly twenty minutes from the end.
