VUCKIC SIGNS ON LOAN

31 August 2016

With only hours to go before this Wednesday's summer transfer deadline, City have moved to further strengthen their forward options by securing the services of exciting attacker Haris Vuckic on a loan deal from Championship side Newcastle United.

Following the earlier arrival of Sheffield United striker Marc McNulty, Vuckic moves to the Northern Commercials Stadium on loan until 3 January 2017 to become City's second deadline day signing.

The imposing 6' 1'' Slovenian international can play in a number of positions in forward areas, including attacking midfielder, on the wing, or as a main striker.

Vuckic has already played under City boss Stuart McCall once before during a loan at Scottish giants Rangers.

While at Ibrox, Vuckic netted nine times for Rangers, helping them to the Scottish Championship Play-Offs.

The 24 year-old has previously featured eighteen times for parent club Newcastle's first team in the EFL Cup, Premier League, UEFA Europa League and Championship.

He has also played in the Championship earlier in his career during a loan spell with Cardiff City.

Vuckic has twice won promotion out of League One, once during a loan period at Rotherham United in the 2013/2014 campaign and once while on loan with Wigan Athletic last season.

City supporters might remember Vuckic from those two particular campaigns after he scored the winner for both Rotherham and Wigan against City in each season.

At international level, Vuckic has been capped at seven different age groups for Slovenia.
