McCALL | WE MUST GO AND GRASP IT

6 April 2017

Bantams boss Stuart McCall says that City must go on the attack and look to embrace the challenge of trying to secure a spot in the end-of-season play-offs.

With just five games of the regular season to go, McCall's men travel to relegation-threatened Bury on Saturday looking to consolidate their position in the top six.

As the drama and excitement builds towards the end of the campaign, McCall knows City must take control of the situation and try to keep their destiny in their own hands, starting at Gigg Lane at the weekend.

McCall said: "The message to the players is to go and relish it.

"We must go and grasp this with both hands and do the very best we can.

"Each player has to be the best they can for these last five games and see where that takes us.

"We can't have any regrets. We can't come in after 90 minutes and think 'oh, we've just had one of those off days'.

"Those bad days have been few and far between this season but we can't really afford any in these last five games.

"The squad have been terrific for the most part this season but the main thing that counts is where we are when the final whistle goes on the last match of the season.

"We are certainly focused and determined enough to make sure we get enough points to get ourselves into those play-offs."

Following midweek wins for some of City's fellow promotion contenders, the battle for a top-six finish has certainly intensified.

One glance at the league table would suggest that at least five teams will battle it out for the four play-off spots but McCall says City cannot look at what other sides are doing during the run-in.

McCall added: "An Oxford or a Rochdale could easily go on a run and make a late push but at the moment it is looking like five teams for four spots.

"All of the teams around us are capable of getting good results but we can only focus on ourselves.

"You cannot rely on other results - matches have been so up and down throughout this season with all of the teams.

"Helping hands from other teams wouldn't go a miss but we can only focus on what we can do.

"We are playing with a lot of confidence and belief at the moment and picking up some good results.

"We have to keep doing what we are doing."
