Although far from their fluid best at times, McCall's men came from behind to secure their second home win of the season to move them up into third in the Sky Bet League One table.
Bobby Grant gave Fleetwood the lead roughly ten minutes before the break but the recalled Filipe Morais equalised on the stroke of half time for the Bantams.
After replacing Marc McNulty towards the end of the first period due to a knock picked up by the Scot, Billy Clarke, who had earlier set up Morais' leveller, then netted the winner for City from the penalty spot in the second period after Timothee Dieng had been pulled back inside the box.
Reflecting on the game post-match, McCall admitted that there was room for improvement in terms of his side's display but after the Bantams had collected successive draws their previous five games, the City chief was jus thrilled to get back to winning ways.
McCall said: "I'm delighted with the result, not so much with the performance.
"That was probably our least impressive home performance so far this season but we've managed to get the win that we wanted.
"We altered our team and formation for tonight but I didn't think it worked too well apart from a ten-minute spell in the first half.
"Fleetwood are a good side, they stopped us playing where we wanted to play so we had to swap it around a little bit.
"We've certainly worked as a team tonight (Tuesday) to make sure we've come out winners.
"Even though we weren't at our best, we showed that real desire again to make sure we didn't come out second best.
"I know we can play better but the most important thing from this game was to pick up the three points.
"I felt it was an open game in the first half - they attacked, we attacked.
"Looking at their goal again, we could probably say that we should have done a few things a bit differently but Haris (Vuckic) is then denied by a great save at the other end.
"Scoring just before the break was a great time for us, it gave us that lift just at the right moment.
"Billy Clarke had a great night when he came on. He put a great ball in for Haris for his chance, set up Fil for his goal and then stuck the penalty away in the second half.
"We are delighted to get this result because you could argue that we've deserved at least another win from our three draws here at home.
"We'll gladly take the result tonight but we'll also look to improve performance-wise."
Vuckic was handed his first start in City colours as one of three changes made by McCall from Saturday's encounter at Bolton Wanderers.
The Slovenian loanee played in an attacking midfield role as part of a diamond-shape in midfield before McCall reverted to a more traditional 4-4-2 in the second period.
McCall said: "We couldn't always get him (Haris Vuckic) into the areas we wanted to but he still showed his quality for the pass over the top to Billy Clarke for Fil's goal.
"He also could have scored but for a superb save from the 'keeper.
"The lads coming into the side tonight have trained well and after the endeavours that Marshy (Mark Marshall), Lawsy (Nicky Law) and (Billy) Clarkey put in on Saturday, I felt they could do with a little freshen up.
"Jordy Hiwula came on and looked bright at Bolton as well so deserved his chance.
"We'll have a look at Chesterfield and the injuries we have - Marc McNulty has picked up a dead leg tonight - and see how we are going to shape up there at the weekend."
