Defender Matthew Kilgallon could be involved in City's match-day eighteen for the visit of Oldham after training with the full squad throughout this week.
James Hanson, who has missed City's last two games with a calf problem, has a chance of making his return and will be assessed pre-match.
Filipe Morais reported a slight recurrence of a thigh problem after last Saturday's win over Coventry City but McCall is hopeful he will be fit enough to feature.
Right back and stand-in skipper Tony McMahon will definitely miss out, however, after a scan earlier in the week confirmed a grade two tear in his thigh muscle.
McCall said: "With Fil (Morais), we need him in the squad really but, equally, we need to do what is right for him as well.
"He thinks he is fully over his injury now but we have to be sure. We can't have him being stop-start and missing training days.
"He seems to be pain free at the moment so we are hopeful he should be available.
"For Big Jim (James Hanson), he is going to be one that we will have to leave to the last minute.
"There is a possibility that he might be available but, again, we won't take any risks.
"We have a few who could replace Tony (McMahon) at right back. Captaincy-wise, it is not a big deal for me.
"We know who will lead the side out come Saturday but I want eleven captains out there for the match, not just one.
"Killa (Matthew Kilgallon) has been unfortunate.
"He joined us right at the end of pre-season so he was behind everyone in terms of fitness levels.
"He's then pushed himself a bit too much to get himself back fitter quicker, which brought a little strain on.
"That meant we had to take him out of action for seven days or so, delaying his progress slightly, but he has been working hard with the physio recently and he's been joining in with us as well now."
Stephen Darby and Rory McArdle were able to take part in certain sections of training with the rest of the squad this Thursday.
McCall has revealed that Darby could now be in line to make his return from injury during next Tuesday's Checkatrade Trophy match with Stoke City.
The Bantams chief added: "Darby and McArdle have both joined in with training, although it was no-contact, mainly ball-work.
"If Darbs (Stephen Darby) has no reaction, he will train with us Monday and be available for the Tuesday game (vs Stoke) for 45 minutes maybe.
"Because of his shoulder operation, Rory could possibly be another couple of weeks."
