The recent home game with Walsall (Saturday 1 April 2017) was Bradford City’s dedicated fixture to the work of Kick It Out, football’s equality and inclusion organisation.
Since 1993, Kick It Out has worked throughout the football, educational and community sectors to challenge discrimination, encourage inclusive practices and campaign for positive change.
Throughout the 2016/17 season, Kick It Out has been running an initiative – Call Full Time On Hate – which aims to utilise and engage the collective force of football to tackle discrimination and hate incidents at every level of the game.
The initiative also seeks to highlight the positive messages of inclusion echoed by the football authorities, clubs, players, managers and supporters’ groups.
Bradford City FC are fully behind #CallFullTimeOnHate and in addition to its support in the programme on the day, the club also promoted the initiative via social media.
On top of these, the Bantams hosted a pre-match exhibition at the Northern Commercials Stadium to celebrate our diverse range of supporters groups who we work with on a regular basis to ensure we an inclusive club and everyone’s needs can be catered for.
Local councillor Richard Dunbar hosted the event and our Chairman Edin Rahic visited the exhibition to meet each of the groups and speak about the work they do.
The groups represented included LGBT and Just a Ball Game, Junior Bantams, Bradford City Disabled Supporters and Football groups, Bangla Bantams, MIND, Bradford Hate Crime Alliance and the newly-formed travel club Bingley Bantams.
