BIG MATCH PREVIEW - SCUNTHORPE UNITED (AWAY)

25 March 2017

vs SCUNTHORPE UNITED (AWAY), Sunday 26 March 2017, Sky Bet League One, Glanford Park, Kick off 12:30pm

The Bantams will make the journey east to Humberside on Sunday to face fellow promotion hopefuls Scunthorpe United in front of the Sky Sports cameras at Glanford Park.

City head into the game in good form, winning four out of their last six matches, including last Saturday's dramatic victory at home to Swindon Town.

After keeping pace at the top end of the table for most of the season, Scunthorpe's own recent form has dipped slightly, with the Iron only winning one of their last eleven matches.

Stuart McCall's men will undoubtedly be ready for a backlash, however, wary that Scunthorpe will be keen to reignite their season in front of a live national audience.

Team News

Scunthorpe United
Iron left back Conor Townsend could return to Scunthorpe's squad after recently recovering from a groin injury.

Kevin van Veen (hamstring) and Sam Mantom (ankle) will both miss out, while Matt Crooks is set to undergo a fitness test this weekend on a foot injury.

Bradford City
City 'keeper Colin Doyle is likely to keep his place in goal for the Bantams after flying back from international duty with the Republic of Ireland.

Josh Cullen is expected to miss out at Glanford Park, however, should he feature in Ireland's U21s fixture with Kosovo this Saturday.

Nicky Law will be assessed in the build up to the Scunthorpe game after missing City's last four games with a knee injury.

Alex Gilliead (hamstring), Matthew Kilgallon (shoulder) and Reece Webb-Foster (knee) all remain sidelined.

Ellis Hudson will also miss out after suffering a mild concussion in midweek while playing for the reserves.

James King has moved to Harrogate Town on loan until the end of April.

The Bantams and Scunthorpe drew 0-0 in front of a bumper crowd at the Northern Commercials Stadium on Boxing Day earlier this season.

City were victorious on their most recent trip to Glanford Park, winning 2-0 back in November 2015 thanks to a Tony McMahon penalty and a well-worked goal from Greg Leigh.

The season before - the 2014/2015 campaign - City drew 1-1 at Scunthorpe, with Billy Clarke's strike after the break cancelling out Gary McSheffrey's first half opener for the hosts.

Match Official: DARREN DEADMAN
The experienced referee has taken charge of forty-one games so far this season, his most recent match coming between Crawley Town and Crewe Alexandra in Sky Bet League Two earlier this month.

Mr Deadman has already officiated two City games during the 2016/2017 campaign, the opening day goalless draw with Port Vale and the recent home encounter with Milton Keynes Dons.

Manager's View

Graham Alexander: "The week's preparation has certainly been a benefit because it is the first time in seven or eight weeks where we have been able to train on consecutive days. We have been able to re-focus the players’ minds on what is important. We want to see the fruits of their labour on Sunday because the players have worked extremely hard this week not just physically but mentally as well. The target is to take that work into Sunday and that the result follows from the performance.”

: "The lads have been really consistent throughout this season, and we just want to keep that going for the next seven games and see where that takes us. I've seen a few of Scunthorpe's recent games, they have been unfortunate in a couple to lose last-minute goals. We cannot focus on the opposition in terms of their previous results though, we will just be aware of any strengths and weaknesses they have. We will go into the game focused mainly on what we can do and how we can affect the game."Stuart McCall
